Ontario
[edit]The qualification to the Senior Nationals for Ontario teams is via the Ontario Cup.
The league will operate in 2 conferences in the Premier Division for 2011 with 7 teams in each. The top 5 from each will stay in the 2012 Premier Division and the remaining teams will drop to the First Division as long as there are at least 2 teams joining for 2012.[2]

[edit]A new format for 2011. SPSL
Format:
The 2011 Senior PSL will be played as a multi-weekend tournament to determine a champion. A Play-Down Weekend will take place over the weekend of July 15-17 at a single venue in order to determine four semi-finalists in the competition. The format of the Play-Down Weekend will be dependent on the number of teams entering the competition; however, each team will be guaranteed a minimum of two matches. All matches will be 90 minutes in length (plus extra time, as necessary) with only a single match played per tournament day.
Following the Play-Down Weekend, the final four teams will participate in the Finals Weekend, consisting of a semi-final and final on the weekend of August 18-21 at a single venue. The winning team will be declared the 2011 Senior PSL Champion and will represent Saskatchewan at the BMO National Championships. This year the Senior competitions (Challenge Trophy for Men and Jubilee Trophy for Women) will be held in Quebec. The average cost per team to attend the Senior BMO National Championships is approximately $20,000. Eligibility:
Any team registered with the Saskatchewan Soccer Association is eligible to compete in the 2011 Senior PSL Tournament; this is an open competition for all Premier, Division 2 and Division 3 senior teams. All participating players, coaches and team representatives must be properly registered with the Provincial Association. As per the PSL Rules and Regulations, all teams must have a coach, who cannot also be registered as a player. All coaches in the PSL must hold full Community Coach Certification (i.e. completed Community Child, Youth and Senior Courses).
Teams may have up to 20 players on the roster for the 2011 Senior PSL Tournament. Of these 20 players, teams will be entitled to up to five (5) temporary registrations for the Play-Down Weekend (i.e. Guest players). Should a team qualify for the Finals Weekend, these temporary registrations would automatically become permanent in order to meet the Canadian Soccer Association transfer deadline of July 31st 2011, with all players participating under temporary registrations becoming exclusively members of the PSL team for the remainder of the outdoor playing season and ineligible to play with any other team. Should the team fail to qualify for the Finals Weekend, the temporary registrations would conclude with the team’s final match of the Play-Down Weekend, with players participating under a temporary registrations returning to their original teams.
Team Entrance Fee: $550 per team
Performance Bond (refundable): $500 per team
