History

[edit]

2006-2007: Independent years

[edit]

In 2006, Clinging to the Trees of a Forest Fire released an independent full length album titled Harmonies From Bleeding Mouths. The band started playing local shows in Denver at several DIY venues such as one of the most succesful DIY venues known as the Kingdom Of Doom (a.k.a. Monkey Mania) which Ethan had taken over after difficulties with previous roommates. On April 11th 2008 a half-dozen uniformed officers showed up in the middle of a show and started to shut things down. One of the owners and a couple band members were ticketed by the Denver Police Department for various charges.[2]

In 2007, the band had self released an EP containing a few songs from their upcoming album.

2008–2009: Debello Records

[edit]

In 2008, Clinging to the Trees of a Forest Fire signed with Debello Records, shortly following with the release of their second full length album Omega Drunk on the Blood of Alpha[3] released in 2008. The band continued to tour and play local shows at DIY venues and started to get more and more attention.

July 14th 2009, Clinging to the Trees of a Forest Fire won Denver's Westword Music Showcase for the best Death/Grind Metal band of 2009.[4]

2010–2011: Prosthetic Records

[edit]

In May of 2010, Clinging to the Trees of a Forest Fire had signed with Prosthetic Records which the band had finished recording and mixing their third full length album Songs of Ill Hope and Desperation with the help of Dave Otero at Flatline Audio (Cephalic Carnage, Catheter, Cobalt)[5] between March 1st and March 22nd 2010. The album was released on June 8th 2010 and was the first album to be commercially sold in stores.

In 2010, Clinging to the Trees of a Forest Fire placed fifth in Metal Storm's Best Grindcore album of 2010.[6]

In the summer of 2010, Ethan filled in for the bassist of Catheter for a 5 week European tour.

In the beginning of fall 2010, Ben Romsdahl split from the band to focus on his recording career.

In April of 2011, Clinging to the Trees of a Forest Fire joined with France's Nesseria and began writing material for a split 12", both bands plan on releasing it around the beginning of summer of 2011.[7] Clinging to the Trees of a Forest Fire booked a westcoast, southwest, and southeast tour from July 14th to August. Played with Reproacher the first 4 dates, then played with Transient. [8]

On July 19th 2011 Clinging to the Trees of a Forest Fire released Visceral under Prosthetic Records only available on vinyl and digital download.[9]
