User:DESiegel/Review of selected deletions by User:Jni

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the wake of discussions at WT:CSD and User Talk:Jni I reviewed Jni's recent deletion log. I looked only for log entries with the string "A1" included. I may at a future time review other entries. DES (talk) 00:13, 24 January 2014 (UTC)

  • On 20 January 2014 Jni deleted page UnKnoWn?? with the log entry: "A11: Made up by article creator or an associate, and no indication of importance/significance" However, this describes an element in a published video game, see [1] and [2] The game curently has no Wikipedia article, any may well not be notable, but it is published and has at least one published review. The character is probably not separately notable, but could perhaps be merged into a article about the game should one be created. In any case this is not an A11-compliant speedy deletion, indeed this didn't qualify for any speedy criterion that I can see. DES (talk) 16:46, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
  • On 20 January 2014 Jni deleted page TigerBuz with the log entry: "A1: Short article without enough context to identify the subject" However, the deleted article clearly identifies "TigerBuz" as an email marketing firm, and a Google search on the name reveals that there is a website at this firm name claiming to be an email marketing firm. Obviously not an A1. This article might well have been deletable as an A7 or as a G11, but it wasn't an A1. DES (talk) 16:53, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
  • On 20 January 2014 Jni deleted page Matt shultz with the log entry: "A1: Short article without enough context to identify the subject". However, Matt shultz was a redirect to Matthew Schultz, the latter article giving plenty of context, and redirects not being subject to Ann CSDs in any case. DES (talk) 16:57, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
  • On 19 January 2014 Jni deleted page Govt.Islamia High School Phalia Officail with the log entry: "A1: Short article without enough context to identify the subject" This was a very stubby article about a High School in Pakistan, but it gave a link to a map showing the site, and a facebook page for the school. Not good sources, but sufficient to identify the school for further research. Clearly not an A1, and as a school, not an A7 either, nor was the content promotional (as it was tagged). It was minimally factual. DES (talk) 17:03, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
  • On 16 January 2014 Jni deleted page Self Righteous Fuck with the log entry: "A1: Short article without enough context to identify the subject" The article was about a band, and included minimal information. It did, however, contain the name of the band, its city of origin, and the names of members. This should have been enough info for any interested editor to attempt to expand this sub-stub. This was not an A1 Speedy candidate. As it stood, it was a valid A7. However, it was deleted roughly 20 minutes after it was initially created, and it is at least possible that had action been delayed a bit, as is good practice, the creator would have added content sufficient to avoid an A7, perhaps even sufficient to establish notability. • On 16 January 2014 Jni deleted page Bitcoin faucets with the log entry: "A1: Short article without enough context to identify the subject". The page was a 1-line dictdef, but it identified its subject, and a Google search of "Bitcoin faucet" shows clearly that the subject is real, and perhaps even notable. There would have been no problem for an editor wishing to expand this article in finding information about it. Also, this article was again deleted only 20 minutes after it was created. This should not have been speedy deleted. DES (talk) 20:13, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
  • On 16 January 2014 Jni deleted page Langpi Dehangi Rural Bank with the log entry: "A1: Short article without enough context to identify the subject" The article was a sub-stub, but it included a link to the bank's official site, which was ample to find additional information about the bank. It has since been recreated as a minimal but valid stub. This was not a valid A1 deletion, although it might possibly have been reasonable as an A7. It was deleted less than 10 minutes after it was created. DES (talk) 20:33, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
  • On 10 January 2014 Jni deleted page Columbusplein with the log entry: "A11: Made up by article creator or an associate, and no indication of importance/significance: G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion". This was an article about a self-declared micronation, and an associated social work project. It was referenced, although some of the cites were to primary sources, and I have not verified the reliability of the others. It included some promotional content, but IMO reasonable editing could have converted it to WP:NPOV. This is clearly not what A11 was intended for. As to G11, I think this is not suited to a speedy, although what an AfD would have made of this I could not say. DES (talk) 20:49, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
  • On 7 January 2014 Jni deleted page Nonghanvadara with the log entry: "A1: Not enough context to identify article's subject". The page identified "Nonghanvadara" as an Indian surname, and a quick Google search appears to confirm that. Wikipedia has many articles about individual surnames, and this statement was quite sufficient for any editor who wanted to expand the article. Whether enough information would be found to expand this and establish notability is another question, but Surname articles are not withing the scope of A7, so this would have needed a Prod or an AfD.
  • On 12 December 2013 Jni deleted page ICCBiz.com with the log entry: "A11: Made up by article creator or an associate, and no indication of importance/significance". This appears to be an actual organization with a live website, not the sort of thing A11 was intended for. It was tagged for G11 (promotional) but included no promotional language, unless merely making a page about a possibly non-notable organization is promotional. As it stood, possibly deletable under A7, but then it was tagged three minutes after creation, and deleted leas than 90 minutes later. DES (talk) 21:09, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
  • On 1 December 2013 Jni deleted page Urkondapeta, mahabubnagar with the log entry: "A1: Short article without enough context to identify the subject". This was an an article about a temple said to be near a named town in India. Wkipedia has an article on the town: Kalwakurthy. The article was minimal and poorly written and formatted. It is possible that the subject is not notable, but it is not in scope for A7, and there was ample context for anyone who wnated to to learn more about the subject and possibly expand the article. It appears in a list of temples on [3]. DES (talk) 21:21, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
