Joyca[edit]

Joyca, formerly YouTunes, whose real name is Jordan Rondelli, is a French videographer, musician and singer, born on August 7, 1995, in Fontaine, Isère. He created his YouTube channel in 2016, and made a name for himself by publishing numerous remixes of other videographers, as well as parodies of renowned artists.

He reached the million-subscriber cap in 2018. He is a member of the RedBox [2] , a large creative and production space located in Angers, alongside Amixem, VodK, Mastu and Neoxi. Since 2018, he has also made his first official singles, the second of which is made with Boostee [3] , called Heart & Soul. He published Party End in 2019.

Biography[edit]

Youth and debut on YouTube (1995-2016)[edit]

Influenced by his two sisters who listened to a lot of techno from the 1990s, the young Jordan Rondelli has found a passion for the stage, and more generally for music. He has been passionate about music since his youth, and has learned piano, guitar and drums by himself. Later he became a DJ and a beatmaker and even if the success was barely noticeable, he appeared several times on Fun Radio. While studying business in Grenoble, he stopped it at the age of 15 to focus definitively on music.

Jordan Rondelli is the main actor, at the age of ten, of a short film called “Tremblez, tyrans!” in which he is the main actor and plays Henry Brulard.

On May 24, 2016, he created his YouTube channel named in reference to his then pseudonym, "YouTunes", and published his first video, which is a remix of a speech by Manuel Valls, using autotune to modify the politician's voice. The videos published afterwards are remixes of famous videographers, like Cyprien, with the clip “William est gentil” that the latter will retweet, and Squeezie who will share the music on his own channel. Only one month after the beginning of his channel, he reached the 100,000 subscriber mark. Anonymous in the first videos, YouTunes ended up showing his face in public quite quickly. Apart from his remixes and parodies, he creates several original series such as "Faire un beat avec... ».

Created in "one hour chrono", Jordan Rondelli explains that his pseudonym can have two meanings. The first is that You means "you" in French, and Tunes means sounds, or music. The second, is simply a diversion of the name YouTube, into YouTunes to add a musical side.

A notoriety explosion (2017-2018)[edit]

In August 2017, just over a year after the creation of its channel, the Vidclust website published a ranking of emerging and fast-growing videographers, and placed YouTunes in first place, just ahead of McFly & Carlito. The parodies published on his channel, such as Maquillée (KeBlack's Bazardée parody), and especially “J'vais vous péchô” (Luis Fonsi's Despacito parody), are among the most watched in his channel and contribute to raising his notoriety.

At the end of 2017, he made his first collaboration with Boostee, on “Le monde de Disney”, where the two men pay tribute to the Disney films with which they grew up, while showing with humour the inconsistencies of these films. At the end of the year, YouTunes' “J'vais vous pécho” video is the sixth most viewed French video in 2017 (excluding music video), with more than 7 million views in a few months. In parallel, with several other popular videographers, Amixem, VodK, Mastu and Neoxi, he joined the RedBox in Angers, where he has an equipped studio that allows him to produce videos and music more easily.

Very committed to the animal cause, in January 2018, Joyca distinguished himself by supporting the recently vandalized Société Protectrice des Animaux (SPA), the equivalent of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Cholet as well as opening a fundraiser whose profits will be donated to the organization's volunteers and residents. He will continue in the future, through its YouTube channel and Twitter account, to raise awareness around shelters for lost animals.

First official singles (2018-)[edit]

Never hiding his desire to make videos and music more "serious" to make them hits, YouTunes decided in March 2018, to change the name of his channel to "JOYCA", which seemed more appropriate to him. While he still makes humorous videos, Joyca released his first official single, High, on April 22, 2018, with a video clip directed by Kick Sama. The pseudonym Joyca comes from JO (for Jordan, his first name), Y (for YouTunes) because it is what marked his popularity and therefore the Y is in the center, and CA (for the English word cat, in reference to his love of cats).

After the death of the world-famous DJ Avicii, Joyca paid tribute to him with a new single, very influenced by Avicii's style: Heart and Soul, produced again in collaboration with the singer Boostee. This time the clip is designed by MyFuckinMess. Joyca is the composer of the music, while Boostee is the performer: the theme of this music is not explicit and leaves many different interpretations; nevertheless, it is explained that you have to keep fighting no matter what. In June 2019, he took part in a video of Squeezie, where they collaborated on a 3-day summer hit, "Bye Bye" [4], in competition with Kezah and Freddy Gladieux, who composed the song "Mirador" with the same constraints. They are then judged by the singer/rapper Gims who designates "Mirador" as the "winner". The two singles have enjoyed some success, even being performed live at the Solidays 2019 music festival by their authors. They are also broadcast in several nightclubs and on national radio stations such as Fun Radio. Both singles are ranked in the sales rankings of several music platforms.
