VivaDesigner is a desktop publishing program for all common platforms: Windows, Mac and Linux/Unix. Although not as well known as its competitors InDesign, Quark XPress (and older programs like Corel Ventura, Framemaker or similar), it is offering about the same functionality in most important areas as well as some unique functions. The UI is not like most of its competitors, but may resemble that of Corel Ventura 10, at least the palettes. The product is free to use for non-commercial purposes. The commercial edition has more to offer in both import and export, for example PDF/X-export and PANTONE colors. [1] VivaDesigner has evolved from an older product, called VivaPress. The company behind the product, Viva Technology, has been offering typesetting and layout programs since 1992.
