The United States national U-15 football team is the national under-17 football team of The United States and is controlled by the United States Football Federation.
The head coach is Claudio Reyna, also youth coach of The New York Red Bulls.
The United States under-15 team was created over the summer of 2012. The United States created the under-15's because FIFA is in the works of creating an under-15 World Cup. The United States wanted to be able to compete internationally with the other youth teams of the world. Massive searches were made around the US to find the countries youth prospects. The US scouts were told not only to look at youth clubs, but also in local parks and the streets. The idea was given from Jurgen Klinsmann, coach of the US national men's team, who knew fromplaying in Germany that not all youth players are found in clubs.
Over the course of six months, a total of 18 youths were found for an international friendly. Two from Georgia, five from California, four from New York, two from Texas, three from New Jersey, and two from Ohio. Eleven of the youths were from clubs, and seven were found in parks and streets. Since joining the US team, all the boys now belong to a club team. Searches are still going on to find more youth players.
The two boys from Georgia are the most capped players of the team. The two boys are David Miller and Andrew Simpson. Both are also the youngest, with both boys being fourteen, and being born February of 1998, only three days seperating the two. Miller and Simpson were found together, playing in an Atlanta park, against men almost six to seven years older than them. They were given offers to play for the US. Miller was also given offers to the Mexican and German teams. Simpson was also given an offer from Germany.
