Tarp Camping is type of camping that incorporates the use of a tarpaulin for shelter while as an alternative to more traditional tents. Some tarp shelters are made using tarps that were specifically designed for camping while others are constructed using all purpose tarps. This type of shelter is typically used by backpackers who desire to lighten their pack weights, hence it is a mainstay of ultralight backpacking.
