Margaret Isabel Ross, b. 1897, Scotland, d. ?

 Writing under the name, M I Ross, Ms. Ross wrote numerous books from a teenage point of view, often based on the real adventures of early explorers.  Her writing is unusually detailed about the conditions, tools, and techniques of the time. The stories are dramatic and accessible. Her books often received glowing reviews, and were often purchased by libraries.  They were published in various English speaking countries.  It is thought that the author moved to Australia, and from there to the U.S. Her first publication was a journal of an Antarctic expediction, which she edited. 
Wikipedia has articles on various Antarctic explorers, including Sir James Clark Ross (15 April 1800 – 3 April 1862), a British naval officer, and his uncle Sir John Ross, CB, (24 June, 1777 – 30 August, 1856) a Scottish rear admiral.
