Hi! I'm EndlessCoffee54 and I edit on Wikipedia. I'm from California, and have been on Wikipedia for about two years. I mostly edit articles on TV and technology but recently have edited some articles on politics.
Here are some things about me:
I'm very liberal on social issues and I'm center-left on economic issues. I believe that government has a role in providing key services like healthcare, and in strong regulation of the financial sector. I strongly believe in the presence of a large social safety net to help the poor, such as a living wage and housing programs that help lift people out of poverty, but also believe that the net should be fiscally sustainable, and that expenses should be trimmed where the spending is wasteful. I believe in a mixed economy, and a Progressive tax, and that a combination of tax hikes and spending cuts (especially to defense spending) be used to reduce the deficit. I am to the left of the Democrats on most issues.
I believe that a Parliamentary democracy with Proportional voting is the best system of government. I think that having a Parliament leads to less political gridlock and also is more democratic because Presidents can sometimes become too powerful. I believe PPV (Proportional voting) is much better than the first-past-the-post (person with the most votes wins) system because it gives more voice to other parties and prevents 2 parties from dominating politics and also prevents polarization of parties. I'm also an environmentalist and a strong believer in democracy.
My political views do not affect my objectivity when I edit political articles.
I love technology and am a huge fan of Windows and Windows Phone. I love the Metro design language, and although some people think that Windows 8's Start Screen isn't great for the Desktop, I think it's beautiful. I'm open minded to new technology that comes around, and although I prefer PC over Mac because of customization and price, I would be open to trying a Mac if offered one (I can't afford one though; they're too expensive!). I also don't think Open-Source software is always good and causes too much fragmentation by itself (Android and Linux). I use both Closed-source and open-source programs. I use both NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards, but I've never had an AMD CPU. I've heard really good things about their 6-Core Phenom II.
I also enjoy playing strategy games, shooting games, city-building games (I play CitiesXL), and simulator games.
What I believe in and How I get around
My favorite philosophers are Rene Descartes and John Locke, and my favorite economists are John Keynes and Paul Krugman.
I'm a strong advocate for California High-Speed Rail, but believe that the state needs to find a way to make the project less expensive, while cutting down construction time (I really like the blended approach). I also like airplanes and airports.
