Multiwebcast, founded in 2000, is a Montreal, Quebec-based company that provides webconferencing services for educational training, business meetings and presentation webinars.[1]

History

[edit]

Multiwebcast began its operation under the name of E-Med Hosting.com Inc; it acquired its expertise in the Continuing_medical_education domain (the name is still legally used). One of their first product was CMEonHIV.com (launched in 2000[2]), online CME presentations on HIV for healthcare professionals given by international experts.[3]

The company continued its expansion by launching on the same year CMEonDiabetes.com, providing CME conferences given by international experts in endocrinology, insulin_resistance, prediabetes, Metabolic_syndrome and Type_2_diabetes. In 2001, it presented the 29th Annual Scientific meeting of the Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India in association with the Indian_Medical_Association, who took place at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India. The event got media attention.[4]

In 2004, Multiwebcast launched the first website fully dedicated to the research on C-reactive_protein and the JUPITER_trial, CRPhealth.com. Due in part with its association with Dr. Paul_Ridker, the website was featured by many media online[5][6]. Its General Public portal explain in non-scientific vocabulary the implication of the CRP in detection of heart attack.

In 2006, Multiwebcast announced a long-term partnership[7] with The European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) for webcast services for EASL members with online access to EASL conferences. From this partnership, more than 200 presentations have been made available online.
