Kevin Tan

Kevin Andrew L. Tan is a Filipino-Chinese businessman currently serving as the president and chief executive officer of Alliance Global Group Inc. (AGI). The diversified conglomerate Tan heads has interests in real estate through Megaworld Corporation, food and beverage through Emperador Distillers, Inc., and entertainment and hospitality through Travellers International Hotel Group, Inc., the operator and developer of Newport World Resorts. AGI also ventures in quick-service restaurants through Golden Arches Development Corp., the master franchise holder of McDonald’s Philippines.[1][2]

Personal life and education

Tan graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Humanities from the University of Asia and the Pacific in 2002.[3][4] He is the son of Andrew Tan, one of the wealthiest Filipinos and the founder and current chairman of AGI.[5][6]

Tan married Michelle See, a former banker, in 2013 in an event held in Singapore. Together, they have two children.[7][8][9]

Career

Upon graduation, Kevin Tan began his career in real estate as a sales agent at Megaworld Corporation, a real estate institution with large-scale development projects. He also managed Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, the commercial division of Megaworld.[10]

Tan began serving as AGI’s executive director in 2012. In 2018, he became the company’s CEO, making him the youngest CEO of a major conglomerate in the Philippines at the time.[11]

Currently, Tan also holds director and board positions in various companies associated with AGI. These include Emperador Distillers, Inc. (liquor), Anglo Watsons Glass, Inc. (manufacturing), and Megaworld Cinemas, Inc. (entertainment).[12][13]

Tan is also involved in philanthropy, being a trustee and director at Megaworld Foundation, Inc.[14]

Tan is also a member of the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC), a Philippine government advisory council that offers guidance to the President of the Philippines. The organization supports the achievement of the country's economic objectives.[15][16]

  • People of the Year Award from PeopleAsia (2018)[17]
  • Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Asia Leaders Awards (2019)[18]
  • Entrepreneur of the Year from American Association of the Philippines’ 71st George Washington Charity Ball (2019)[19]
  • Leaders of Tomorrow Award from Global HR Excellence Awards’ World HRD Congress (2019)[20]
