In her later life Kirby settled in Bandon, County Cork where she immersed herself in the local community through activities with the Irish Countrywomen's Association. It is here where she later faded from the Camogie scene.[1][2]. Kirby's husband David Crowely died suddenly on November 14, 1976. The funeral was held at St Columba's Church, Douglas. He was buried at St. Finbarr's Cemetery.[3]. Kirby later died in November 1987 at the of sixty six.[4] Kirby's legacy lives on though her many All Ireland camogie championship medals and through her three children Maureen, Carmel and Joan Crowely.
