Jan Watzlawick (born 1991), is a German film director, fashion photographer and author.

He also is a former sprint kayaker and junior world championship gold medallist in the K-2 500m category (2009)[1] and several times German junior Champion (2007-2009). Today mostly known for his analog photography of female models for magazines, directing commercials and writing screensplays. He published his first Book "Bullshit Bible - A Book About Everything And Nothing" in the end of 2020. He is based around the Côte d'Azur.

Early Life[edit]

Jan Watzlawick was born in Verden (Aller), Germany.[2]

Work[edit]

Watzlawick began his career with taking photographs in the fashion and beauty industry before he started making commercial advertising films for known brands like Land Rover[3]. At the same time his style has shifted away from fashion towards the sense of natural beauty. His work is mainly influenced by the realist aesthetic of photographers such as Peter Lindbergh and Henrik Purienne.

He made his own films since childhood. At that time with the video camera of his father Volker Watzlawick. And so, little by little, he began to write scripts, short stories and thoughts and put them on film. Which laid the foundation for his work today. [4]

His subjects are predominantly natural looking girls often set in nature, under the bright shining sun, near the ocean. Confident in their own bodies.

German Championships in Munich 2008 (K-1 200m, K-4 200m, K-4 1000m, K-4 6000m)[6] and three gold medals in 2009 at the 88. German Championships in Brandenburg. He defended his title in the K-1 200m and won also the K-4 1000m.[7]

In 2009, Watzlawick won a gold medal at the 2009 ICF Junior Canoe Sprint World Championships - Moscow, Russia: in the K-2 500m with his teammate Tobias Ghulke in a time of 1:35.746.[8]
