Welcome to WikiProject Ottoman Empire. Some Wikipedians have formed this collaboration resource and group dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of Ottoman Empire and the organization of information and articles on this topic. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions and various resources; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians interested in the topic. If you would like to help, please join the project, inquire on the talk page and see the to-do list below.
Goals
[edit]- Improve the quality and quantity of Ottoman Empire-related articles;
- By starting articles that need to be created to assure that every aspect of the Ottoman Empire and its history, Ottoman people and Ottoman culture is present in Wikipedia,
- By improving the existing articles (first to Good article then to Featured article status) so that they are more encyclopedic and of higher quality.
- Collaborate with the Turkey WikiProject in improving articles that pertain to both countries.
- Make sure that Ottoman Empire-related topics are brought to the attention of the project by adding a template similar to {{WPTR}} on the talk pages of concerned articles.
Scope
[edit]- All articles pertaining to the Ottoman Empire, including but not limited to:
- The history of the Ottoman Empire, from its rise and growth, to its stagnation, and finally to its decline and fall.
- The culture of the Ottoman Empire, including its accomplishments in architecture, poetry, prose, music and language.
- The people of the Ottoman Empire, including sultans such as Osman I, Mehmed II and Suleiman the Magnificent.
