A Graduate of theUniversity of Brighton, Howard is a dynamic teacher who is always looking for new ways to challenge his students and himself. He excels at hands-on activities and looks for ways to make theory come to life, linking different subjects to create projects and activities that are meaningful to students while they re-enforce the ideas and content of the curriculum.
In his 15th year of teaching, Howard has taught several models of education, and has found that adaptability is one of his strengths. He has taught a wide variety of subjects, from Grade one physical education to Grade 12 University-level physics.
Howard recently completed a specialization in Computers in the Classroom, which was a natural choice for him as he has always enjoyed working with computers and utilizing cutting edge technology with his students.
In the classroom, Howard uses proactive discipline. First and foremost, he strives to make sure his class is a safe place where all opinions are heard and all students respected. He has a very strict “no put-downs” rule, which his students come to respect and appreciate each year. Along with the “Tribes” training he completed recently, Howard integrates the ideas of multiple intelligences and instructional intelligence into his teaching.
Howard is a dedicated team player who recognizes that a school is a community, requiring give and take from all members of staff. He has an easy going nature and enjoys taking part in staff socials.
Howard currently plays football (Soccer) for the St. George Lion's an ex-pat football club based in London, Ontario, Canada.
