I am currently studying the Wikipedia policy pages in order to develop an understanding of the community and how I can contribute to the site. The original reason I joined was to help combat vandalism, after having encountered several vandalised pages. Please be patient with me and excuse any mistakes I might make as I learn the proverbial ropes.

If you have any advice or feedback for me, please leave a message on my talk page.

Musings

[edit]

I have recently come to think that Wikipedia should not be implicitly trusted when reading pages relating to controversial issues, such as veganism. The reason being that such controversial issues stir up too much personal feeling in the editors who write the pages and these personal feelings can easily lead to skewed representation of facts.

An encyclopaedia should be a collection of plain facts, with no inference attached to the implications of those facts. People reading an encyclopaedia must be free to draw their own conclusions from the facts that they read therein and should never, ever be lead toward a certain conclusion through an editor's personal beliefs being expressed through his or her biased representation of fact.

If you feel compelled to fuse fact and opinion, you must not do so in a neutral setting such as Wikipedia strives to be.
