Early life and musical beginnings
Johnson was born on 16 January 199 in Bournemouth, Dorset, at Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
At an early age, Johnson attended a number of musical theatre schools, including Swish of the Curtain, Stagecoach and Big Little Theatre School. It was here that he started performing to audiences.
Music career
[edit]Start of songwriting
[edit]In 2011, whilst a pupil in Year 8 at St Peter's School, Bournemouth, Johnson's year group were given coursework in his music lesson, to create a song using only four chords - C, F, Am and G. The coursework was styled as a competition, with the winner getting to record their song in the school's recording studio.
"In typical fashion, I remember I'd left the coursework to prepare a song until the last minute. The day before it was due, I was with my family at the rugby club that my brother played at. Knowing I had the coursework to complete, I took my guitar along with me and sat in the back of the car, trying to write the song.
I remember scrolling through my first phone, a Nokia 2730, locating some lines I'd written in notes which resembled lyrics to a song. I don't remember writing the words, but I must have written it as poetry and I'm glad I did, as that got the ball rolling to starting to write the song.
If I remember rightly, the song was written quite quickly, with additional lyrics being written later. The next day, I took the song to school and performed it to my classmates. I remember people, including the teacher, appearing stunned that I'd written it. And from there, I've not stopped songwriting since."
