Within the aviation industry, business aviation, also known as BizAv, is the use of any “general aviation” aircraft for a business purpose. The Federal Aviation Administration, also known as the FAA, defines general aviation, or GA, as all flights that are not conducted by the military or the scheduled airlines, also known as air carriers. As such, business aviation is a part of general aviation that refers to the business use of airplanes and helicopters.

The vast majority of businesses in this community are small to mid-size businesses. The business aviation community, sometimes referred to as BizAv, of the overall aviation industry, consists of companies of all sizes that rely on many different types of aircraft. There are single-engine-single-pilot airplanes up to turbine, jet, aircraft that fly globally, as well as helicopters that report rush-hour traffic. There are also businesses that are referred to as FBOs, fixed-base operators, and many other services that support flight operations at more than 4,000 public airports across the United States.
