Created by Ken Sugimori, Garchomp first appeared in the video game Pokemon Diamond and Pearl and following squeals appearing as Cynthia's main Pokemon, it then appeared in the animated franchise Pokemon Season 10: Diamond and Pearl episode 40 Top-Down Training[1].

Known as the Mach Pokemon, it can fly at super sonic speeds resembling that of a jet fighter plane. Garchomp has also been featured in a fighting video game Pokken Tournament as a playable character and also in the Pokemon Trading Card Game.[2]

Appearance[edit]

Garchomp is a Pokemon that evolves from Gabite after reaching level 48, its appearance is dark blue in colour with a red underbelly from the under jaw all the way down to the stomach, a patch of gold then comes down to a point above the red on the stomach along with a star shape on the tip of its forehead. Garchomp features razer sharp teeth along with three long talon on its feet and one on each arm resembling that of hands. On both side of its head are two horn like appendages resembling that of jet plane engines allowing it to sense other Pokemon from a distance. Curved fins sprout from the arms resembling that of wings, it also contains a large dorsal fin on its back and tail resembling that of a shark, along with gill like slits on the side of its neck. On the upper arms and legs are small paired spikes, with black and gold intense eyes.

Later on in the video game series Garchomp gains a transformation called Mega Evolution, with this it grows in size and become angular particularly around its head and shoulders. It gains tooth like spikes on its underbelly as it stands up more straight and red spikes on its knees. Also its talon hands and fins merge together transforming into two scythes with a red outline for hands.
