History

[edit]

[Ashutosh Garg] and Varun Kacholia founded Eightfold.ai in September 2016[1] after raising seed funding. Dr. Garg came to Eightfold after working on search and personalization at both Google and IBM Research. Mr. Kacholia previously worked on ranking at Google, search at YouTube, and the News Feed at Facebook. The two co-founders account for more than 6000 research citations and over 80 search and personalization patents[2][3].

The company most recently completed a Series B funding round for $18 million in April of 2018 led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Foundation Capital[4][5]. Eightfold launched the first version of its platform in March 2018[6][7].
