History[edit]

Formation and the early years[edit]

W3Global emerged as a global consulting company purely comprised of webMethods professionals. When co-founders Gayathri Sridhar, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Sridhar Venkatesan, Chief Technology Officer (CTO), emerged from the corporate world, they envisioned a company that would support every area of webMethods in its entirety. This company came to be known as W3Global.

The webMethods professional community remains relatively small and still in high-demand since its inception and incorporation in 1996. WebMethods was widely popularized as the brand that pioneered the use of web services to effectively connect software applications together within a single organization and across the Internet. Over the next six years webMethods was recognized as the fastest-growing software company in North America by Deloitte.[2] After spending nearly a decade with webMethods since it was established, Venkatesan held firm in his belief that he too would one day build a company based on the same principles of the webMethods company culture—from products to services, W3Global’s future was limitless.

Upon its date of incorporation on April 19, 2006, W3Global adopted its current name, "W3Global." Venkatesan felt that the name should represent the company's presence as a global consulting leader and high performer in the IT industry. In the same way that the Internet represented the World Wide Web as a portal connecting people to one another almost instantaneously, the company's name reflected something that has become such an integral part of our global community today. Thus, W3Global represents the means by which those seeking professional IT services are instantly able to connect with high performing IT consultants. Today, W3Global has global operations with extensive resources throughout the Americas and India as well as a vast network of global partners.[w3global.com]

W3Global diversifies[edit]

In early 2010, W3Global expanded its practice beyond the webMethods product suite to support not only Microsoft .NET Framework but TIBCO, Informatica and Java Software Platforms as well.[w3global.com]

The following year, in 2011, W3Global announced the launch of its webMRemote iPhone application, a task approval tool that allows users to access my webMethods Server Business Process Management (BPM) from their mobile device. With webMRemote, decision-makers are not only able to view all assigned tasks in their mobile inbox but also dig into details of specific tasks and approve them—all from their mobile device. Feature enhancements such as comprehensive webMethods administration and operation functionalities as well as access to the task details page are said to be additional features available with the next webMRemote mobile application upgrade. While diversifying and diving into different technologies has been instrumental in the growth of the company, Venkatesan maintains his vision as a company specialized in the webMethods product suite. The launch of webMRemote at Software AG’s ProcessWorld 2011 for webMethods customers and preferred partners effectively solidified that vision.[www.softwareag.com/pw2011americas/default.asp]

A Global Presence[edit]

W3Global was originally headquartered in Fremont, California just near the San Francisco Bay Area in Northern California. This area, also known as the Silicon Valley, is widely renowned as home to many of the world’s largest technology corporations. The Silicon Valley continues to be the hub for high-tech innovation and development and represents a third of all the venture capital investment in the United States.[1] Although recently relocating its headquarters to Dallas, Texas, the original office in Fremont still operates there today.

Dallas headquarters[edit]

In 2011, W3Global brings its headquarters to the bustling city of Dallas, which currently occupies the third largest concentration of Fortune 500 companies in the nation and has one of the highest concentrations of corporate headquarters in the United States. The Metroplex also contains the largest Information Technology industry base in the state (often referred to as Silicon Prairie), owing to the large number of corporate IT projects and the presence of numerous electronics, computing and telecommunication firms.[2]

Dallas has seen substantial growth in the industrial and financial sector with the development of a major inland port, due largely to the presence of Dallas/Fort Worth International (DFW) Airport, one of the world’s largest and busiest airports. The DFW Metroplex is the largest metropolitan area in the South and fourth-largest metropolitan area in the United States with a booming population of approximately 1.2 million in 2010, according to the United States Census Bureau. The Metroplex economy is the sixth largest in the United States with a 2010 gross metropolitan product of $374 billion. [3]

Washington, D.C. presence[edit]

In 2010, W3Global stepped beyond the commercial sector and into the government sector. Since experiencing tremendous growth within the government sector, in January 2012, the company was awarded the GSA Schedule. The General Services Administration (GSA) is an independent agency of the United States government, established to help manage and support the basic functioning of federal agencies. The GSA Schedule is essentially a collection of pre-negotiated contracts by which procurement managers from government agencies can view these agreements and make purchases from the GSA Schedule. By knowing that all legal obligations have been taken care of by GSA, government agencies are easily able to award projects to companies on the GSA Schedule.[4] As a woman-owned and minority-owned enterprise, W3Global employs a very diverse organization comprised of a wide range of IT professionals to support IT projects among both the commercial and government sector.

Hyderabad offshore office[edit]

In 2011, W3Global also established an offshore development center in Hyderabad, India, one of the largest metropolitans of India with an area of 250 square miles and a population of 7,749,334 living in the metropolitan area. Hyderabad is the world’s fourth most populous city. Once a global center of the diamond and pearls trade, Hyderabad has recently emerged as a major global center for the information technology (IT) and biopharmaceutical industries.[5] W3Global’s specialized webMethod’s practice is structured to provide solutions and services that span the entire life cycle of software development through the use of both onsite and offshore development methodology. Now, with this newly established offshore development center, W3Global is effectively able to offer the same standard of IT services with space, time and economy in mind.
