I'm a technical writer working now at Oracle Corporation (sometimes in their offices in the old Münchenbryggeriet), previously (2008-10) at Sun Microsystems and (2004-2008) at MySQL AB as a member of the MySQL Documentation Team, where I maintain the documentation for MySQL NDB Cluster and the NDB Cluster APIs. I wrote the original MySQL Manual chapters on Partitioning (which I continue to maintain, in part) and the Event Scheduler (now maintained by someone else). You'll also find my muddy little footprints in various other portions of the MySQL Manual as well, chiefly the stuff related to MySQL's JSON functionality and XML support. I also help maintain the SQL Syntax chapter.

Since 1999, I've also contributed as an author, reviewer, and editor to several books about Web and open source technologies. I most recently appeared in mass-market dead-tree format as co-author and principal editor of The MySQL Cluster Certification Study Guide (badly outdated now, and no longer in print). Previously, I co-wrote PHP 5 Recipes and MySQL Database Optimization for Apress, and about a dozen other books on various topics for Wrox Press and glasshaus. I know a few things about MySQL, MySQL Cluster, PHP, JavaScript, XML (most notably DocBook), XSLT, and the Document Object Model. I also know a few (but not as many) things about Linux and Python. I've become somewhat handy with bash, and can hack my around things in Perl if the need is great.

I'm originally from the USA, but now reside with my wife in Stockholm (Bagarmossen, to be precise). I've also lived in Brisbane and Bangkok. These days, we try to spend as much time as we can get away with during the Northern Hemisphere's winter months in places like Guangzhou, China; Mount Dora, Florida; and Kempsey Shire, Australia.
