Zulema Guadalupe Urrea Ghedin (Spanish pronunciation: [suˈle.ma ɡwa.ð̞aˈlu.pe u're.a ɡeˈdin]); born: 3 March 1984) is a Venezuelan green anaconda, biochemist, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner who lives and works in Draketown, Saint Titus and Cyril. Zulema works at the State University of Saint Titus and Cyril as a university professor and lecturer in the Department of Science and Biology.

Biography[edit]

Zulema was born in Calabozo in the Venezuelan state of Guárico to well-to-do coffee plantation owners. She is the youngest of three. Her father, Claudio, was an entrepreneur and businessman, and her mother, Valentina, was a court judge. Zulema received training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu at a very early age from Nusrat Habib, a Lebanese-Venezuelan jiu-jitsu master. Between 1991 and 1993, Zulema travelled to Brazil, the United States and Europe to participate in various junior jiu-jitsu competitions. In December 2001, Zulema's family's coffee plantation ceased operations and went bankrupt; their land was returned to the state and given to the poor. In the same month, Zulema moved to Caracas with her mother and siblings, while Claudio, desperate for work, took on several odd jobs before becoming an oil worker for the PDVSA after nationwide general strikes in January 2003.

Through generous government subsidisation, Zulema began attending courses at the Central University of Venezuela, where she graduated with a double degree in biology and bioanalysis in 2007. In the same year, in early December, Zulema suffered a depressed skull fracture during a student protest against the Venezuelan government's attempt to amend the constitution. Her head trauma resulted in pituitary dysfunction for the rest of her life, leading to significant weight gain.

Between 2007 and 2009, Zulema underwent hormonal replacement therapy which significantly stabilised her head trauma. Despite her injuries, Zulema successfully completed her master's degree in biology at the Universidad Simón Bolívar in 2012. She did not attend her graduation ceremony as her family fled Venezuela for Colombia, briefly seeking refuge in Nusrat Habib's home in the border town of Arauca. It was also around this time that Zulema met Thana, a close corvid friend and Lebanese agent of Nusrat. Zulema spent a year working as a nurse practitioner in Cúcuta, with long working hours and little rest; 20% of her salary went towards paying Thana's 'agency fees'.

In 2013, with Thana's help, Zulema secured a fully-paid scholarship to pursue her PhD in biochemistry at Rice University in Houston, Texas, from which she graduated with top honours in 2017. Despite her achievements, she struggled to find employment in the United States, and her visa was revoked. Refusing to return to Venezuela, she moved to Saint Titus and Cyril in the summer of 2018, where she obtained a position as a professor and lecturer at the State University of Saint Titus and Cyril (SUSTC), within its nascent Department of Science and Biology.

Personal life[edit]

Zulema is known by her friends and associates as the 'thiccest anaconda in town'. She takes particular positivity regarding her physique, despite it originating from a cranial trauma that influenced her dietary preferences.

Despite being fully employed at State University of Saint Titus and Cyril, she only ever has to deliver two lectures a week. Outside of work, Zulema enjoys sunbathing at GerVal Sports Centre Beach, though she is often harassed by men who occasionally come by to slap her bottom.
