Civil, Neutral Editing

[edit]

I edit with civility[1], collaboration and respect.[2] I have never been blocked or brought before ANI. I have 10,000+ edits on 400+ articles and I stand by my edit history. [3] I have the highest number of edits on many of the TM related articles but I am also the number one editor on another article group: Dean Foods, Horizon Organic, Silk (soy milk)and Alpro. I also edit many BLPS's and I have the highest number of edits on Doris Duke, Deepak Chopra Eckhart Tolle (2nd), Prince(2nd) Stubble, Jude Cole, Jacob Stein, Dixan, Stephen Gill (photographer), Scott LeDoux, Eduard Steinberg, Frederick Hitz and Greg Raymer (2nd) to name a few.

My highest priority is the progress and well being of WP and its policies. I abide by the policy of WP:COI and WP:NPOV My edits are not the product of a blind allegiance to any movement or ideology. I champion a balanced and accurate representation of reliable sources from all significant points of view. Here are some examples:

My Mistakes

[edit]

I am not perfect but I like to think I can learn from my mistakes.[25][26] Becoming a good WP editor is a process and everyone has their likes and dislikes so being a neutral editor is an ongoing growth process. I feel that my neutrality and my WP skills and knowledge of policies has improved over the past 18 months. However, there have been mistakes along the way as pointed out by others on the Evidence page:

  • WillBeback: In Sept 2009 I used this online news article as a secondary source. [27] Sometime later WillBeback claimed that the author was a restaurant reviewer (nothing in the article indicates this) and that the source was invalid. WillBeback then removed the text and source and I did not object.
  • WillBeback: I innocently violated the Wikpedia guidelines for plagerism. I thought is was OK to use phrases or lists or even a sentence or two from copyrighted article without placing quotes around them if the sentence was cited and ID’d the source. WillBeback is correct that it took some time for me to fully understand the policy and comply. I am glad he brought it to my attention and I feel that I reached full understanding and compliance a few months ago. Now my understanding of how to avoid plagerism is much more precise. [28]
  • AndrewSklolnick: I removed text sourced to Skolnicks JAMA letter because when I scanned the article I saw no such information. My mistake was pointed out to me and the text was put back in the article by another editor and I made no objection.
  • Tuckerj1976: I made a frustrated comment on DougWellers Talk Page.[29] An hour and 20 minutes later I decided it would be best to be more patient and let Doug do his job, so I deleted the comment.[30]

Rebuttals

[edit]
  • Fladrif accuses me of POV editing and deleting sourced material. However, if you read the talk threads he cites below, you will see that his source was not reliable,[31] I discussed in a civil and collaborative manner, [32][33] while Fladrif was abusive [34] and blatantly mis-represented other sources.[35]

Resume Normal Editing Routine

[edit]

Previously on the Evidence page I had stated that I would not make any WP edits except while at home until ArbCom was over. Now that I have been cleared of SPI, I am resuming my normal routine and will make WP edits from other locations outside of my home as needed.--KbobTalk 21:04, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
