The Chinggis Khaan Gobi is a 2-door road tractor manufactured by Chinggis Khaan Motors at its new Ulaanbaatar truck factory. Featuring two V8 and one six-cylinder engines, it is Mongolia's first domestically-produced truck.
Engines[edit]
The base Gobi comes with a Volvo Trucks' 14.0 litre turbocharged and intercooled, V8 4-stroke diesel cycle engine The engines are designed upon Chinggis Khaan Motors' request and manufactured in Sweden. The engine features low-friction forged pistons, forged connecting rods and cast iron block and crankshaft. Engine produces 544 hp (406 kW) at 1,520 rpm and 2,400 N⋅m (1,800 lb⋅ft) at 1,400 rpm. This engine also has electronically controlled twin-stage turbocharger. Also this engine have an electronically controlled piezoelectric fuel injection operating at 1,800 bar (26,000 psi).
Optional engines[edit]
The Gobi also has optional V8 and six-cylinder engines. The optional 11.5-litre, turbocharged and intercooled 4-stroke V8 diesel cycle engine from Nissan Truck Division produces 415 hp (309 kW) at 1,273 rpm, and 1,499 N⋅m (1,106 lb⋅ft) of torque at 1,071 rpm. This engine includes electronically-controlled twin-stage turbocharger and electronically-controlled piezoelectric fuel injection operating at 1,800 bar (26,000 psi). Also the truck has a Mercedes-Benz OM457 13 litre 4-stroke turbocharged and intercooled engine.
Transmissions[edit]
The Gobi only comes with an air-controlled, 16-speed manual transmission. The transmission also have a Voith hydraulic retarder, mounted between the engine and transmission.
