A "GENEXT" PERFORMER

Born to parents Pranab Kumar Sur and Durga Sur , Prantik hails from a musical family. He is living his mother’s dream of being a singer. His career as a singer began at the age of 7, singing Bengali songs for all India radio.

Prantik is very close to his parents. His mother is his inspiration, his strength and his motivation. She possesses an amazingly melodious voice. Till date Prantik is known to sit and practice with his mother beside him with a harmonium as accompaniment.

He completed his graduation from Chandanagore College and later pursued an MA in ENGLISH Literature.

Prantik is trained in Indian classical music for over 17 years. Being trained so, he has developed a wide repertoire of songs covering the entire gamut from ‘Pure Classical to Semi-Classical and Ghazals’ on one hand to modern Bengali, Hindi and Western songs. He is currently an accomplished singer in Bollywood Hits, Fusions, Regional Songs, Indipops, Punjabi Hits, Bengali numbers etc.

Prantik stepped into the world of music at the age of 4 as he started his initial training of Rabindra Sangeet under the guidance of Kakoli Roy a renowned Rabindra Sangeet Artist. This marked his venture into the world of Music and Melody. Tapas Chakraborty an eminent student of Pt. Jagadish Prasad and Aditi Bhattacharya a renowned Radio Artist and Pt. Manas Chakraborty’s student trained him in Classical Form of Music.

Achievements

Over the years, Prantik has taken part in many Talent Hunt Shows nationally and won a lot of appreciation and acclaim. Some of his prominent achievements are:

Star Jalsha- Royal Bengal Superstars (2009) Prantik was declared the winner.

Amul Star Voice of India (2007) Prantik was among the Top 9 finalists.

Zee Bangla SA RE GA MA PA (2006) Prantik was among the top finalists

Sa Re Ga-A Talent Hunt (2005) Prantik was declared the champion in this Talent Hunt organized by Geet O Shopto Sur held at Uttam Manch.

Tara Muzik-A Toh Noy Shudhu Gaan (2004) Prantik was among the top finalists.

ETv Bangla-Sa Theke Sa (2004) Prantik was among the top finalists.

He is acclaimed for his versatile voice as well as excellent emoting in his songs. Prantik is known for his easy singing and his fresh and melodiously power packed voice quality. This has enabled him in winning awards of repute like “ UTTAM KUMAR AWARD” & “HEMANT KUMAR AWARD” for THE BEST UPCOMING SINGER IN BENGAL..

Prantik' versatility is not limited to singing. He is also an accomplished player of different musical instruments like Guitar, Synthesizer, and Mouthorgan, which often marks his live performance on popular demand. This quality has made him an endearing performer in live performances.

Prantik is also a passionate composer and has already composed around 70-80 songs. His future projects include an album piled on with his own compositions.

Prantik’s profession as a singer has given him the opportunity to travel vastly for eminent shows. Several corporate shows have also come his way over the years. Apart from these Prantik is known for his performances in College fests, Cultural Evenings, Fairs, Pujas, Dandotsavs and Navratri etc.

Prantik has sung for Mr. Ravindra Jain.

Recently he has sung for Bikram Ghosh in a Bengali film "BHOY".

K Janey KO Ghonta- a Bengali Film, Music by Mr. Soumitra Kundu features a playback by Prantik.

He has lent his voice for a number of Bengali, Oriya and Asamese movies and also won recognition awards and acclaims...

Several other projects are lined up and some are yet to be released.
