Welcome to the Direct Sales task force of the Business WikiProject!

Scope

[edit]

The Direct Sales task force covers all aspects of direct sales, including the base article Direct selling, and the methods of direct selling including Multi-level Marketing, as well as the companies that utilize this method of sales, any notable products sold via this method of distribution, and associated notable people. A particular eye needs to be kept towards a balanced view of the subject, as direct sales, in particular the type known as Multi-level Marketing, is a subject of significant controversy both on- and off-wiki. A significant amount of contributors to direct sales articles have a tendency to participate in POV pushing depending on their personal opinion on the subject.

Objectives

[edit]

Improve the base articles

[edit]

The article Direct selling as it is currently written is not much better than a stub, and needs more reliable sources to thresh out the article. To achieve this, it will be necessary to identify books and journals that will provide useful reference material. It will also be necessary to establish a methodology for structuring the article that will enable its contents to be clearly understood by the reader.

[edit]

One type of direct selling, multi-level marketing is a heavily-contested article that needs to be better organized to thresh out fringe ideas, and maintain neutrality. Additionally, only two types of compensation plans with an article are the Stairstep breakaway plan and the Binary plan. Missing are articles on Unilevel, and Matrix plans, (perhaps others?) as well as single-level marketing programs. Other issues to deal with revolve removal of promotional/puffery language, as well as ensure due weight is being given to articles with excessive criticism.

[edit]

Not all related articles have the appropriate categories tagged. The Category:Direct sales companies may be missing companies, and its sub-category Category:Multi-level marketing companies, needs a thorough review to verify the correct category tag. Please feel free to add categories that may have been omitted, or add comments about the categories listed below:

Improve articles and stubs

[edit]

Related articles and stubs, need to be improved, because these are often basic terms needing clear definition. Please feel free to add articles that may have been omitted or your views about each of the articles listed below:
