Eliza and the Bear are an English indie/rock band from Essex, London, formed in 2011. After early interest in the band they self released ‘Brothers Boat’ in May 2012[1] and then went on to partner with Northern company Generator to release double A side Upon the North/The Southern Wild[2]. In September 2013 the band signed a worldwide record deal to Capitol Records UK[3]. They have previously toured with Paramore, Imagine Dragons, Awolnation and Twin Atlantic as well as headlining shows at The Boardline, The Garage and London’s KOKO. Their debut album, slated for a 2016 release[3], was recorded by Jacquire King (Kings of Leon, James Bay) in Nashville at Blackbird Studios.

Name Origin
[edit]In July 2014, when questioned about the origin of the name in an interview with Wonderland Magazine, James Kellegher responded: "Early on, one of us (I can’t remember who) stumbled upon Eleanor Rees’ Eliza and the Bear. We found that the book’s themes were very similar to the music we were writing at the time, and of course we loved the sound of the name. We emailed Eleanor politely asking permission to use the name, she obliged! We were lucky enough to meet Eleanor when we played in Liverpool earlier this year, after 3 years"[4].
