Have It All is the unreleased planned fourth studio album by American singer-songwriter Jesse McCartney. Originally planned for release on December 28, 2010,[1] the album is now set to be released in 2012.

Background and development

[edit]

On October 18, 2010, it was announced that Have It All would be released in January 2011.[2] On November 30, it was announced that the album release would be pushed up to December 28, 2010, the Tuesday following Christmas, an uncommon album release date. McCartney said in an interview with Billboard, "Honestly, I don't think it really matters what week the album is released," and "I'd rather have a nice, steady build than an immediate peak. I just want to keep saturating the market and radio with as many hit records as I can.".[1]

McCartney commented on the album in an interview with Billboard as, "It's full of sexy, four-on-the-floor beats with big pop melodies... but yet again, some rhythmic, R&B stuff that's pushing the envelope a little bit more for me as an artist," "I wanted to make sure that there were no boundaries. I'm 23, and I wanted to make sure there was nothing boxing me in musically or content-wise."[3]

On December 3, 2010, McCartney officially announced through his Facebook page that he pushed the release date for the album back to early 2011. On April 7, 2011, McCartney responded to a question on his Twitter page about the delay, saying "The Release of Have It All has been put on hold until we hear about the outcome of [Locke & Key]", the television series in which he had a lead role.[4] On November 3, McCartney said via his WhoSay page "2012 is still the magic year for the record to finally come out."[5]

Singles

[edit]

The lead single from the album, "Shake", was sent to radio on September 8, 2010. and was released digitally on September 21, 2010. The song debuted at number 90 on the Billboard Hot 100. It then fell off, it re-entered at number 78 and subsequently peaked at number 54.
