Rachel Cory is a fictional character from Another World, an American soap opera on the NBC network. Created by Agnes Nixon and introduced by Mary Harris, the role was introduced in 1967 as Rachel Davis, under the portrayal of Robin Strasser, as the daughter of Gerald Davis (Walter Mathews) and Ada Hobson (Constance Ford). Strasser exited the role in 1971, and was replaced by Margie Impert for three-months; Strasser returned for five months the subsequent year. Under executive producer Paul Rauch, Victoria Wyndham stepped into the role in July 1972 and appeared until the series finale in June 1999, becoming the long-tenured actor in the role.

On March 8, 1967, Robin Strasser debuted in the role of Rachel.[1] She later exited and made her final appearance in the role on June 29, 1971.[2] Wyndham made her first episodic appearance on July 21, 1972.[3]

Reception

[edit]

In July 2020, Soaps.com listed Wyndham's casting as the fifth-best recasts of all-time on soaps. Editor Charlie Mason remarked: "Thankfully, the powers that be discovered Wyndham — a veteran of Guiding Light as Charlotte Bauer — and once she took on the role in 1972, she made it so definitively her own that she played it until the NBC soap was cancelled in 1999."[4]
