Thurston Matt Waffles (2007 – September 7, 2022) was an American Internet celebrity cat. He was born in 2007, in the US State of North Dakota, and was adopted from a shelter by [his owners][citation needed]
Early Life

[edit]On June 12th, 2019, Thurston's Instagram page featured a video of him meowing at his owner, while the owner emulates a conversation with the cat. This post gained significant online traction, receiving more than 82,000 views and 24,000 likes in less than six months.[1] Thurston's likeness quickly grew in popularity as a meme, colloquially known as "Screaming Cat".
Shelia and Matt continued to post images and videos of Thurston that focused on his day-to-day life on Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
Death
[edit]On September 7th, 2022, Thurston Waffles died due to complications from a sinus infection. The event of his death was shared widely across multiple social media sites, most notably Reddit, and particularly in the subreddits r/Catswhoyell[2] and r/PerfectlyCutScreams[3], the latter of which features Thurston as an unofficial mascot of the community.
However, Thurston's death was overshadowed by the news of Queen Elizabeth II's death on the very next day.
