Visible Body is a privately owned software company based in Newton, Massachusetts. The company creates software containing interactive 3D models, illustrations, and animations of human anatomy.[1][2][3]
In 2017, Visible Body announced that it would be offering augmented reality on its flagship product, Human Anatomy Atlas for iOS.[4][5]
History
[edit]Brothers Andrew and Matthew Bowditch founded Argosy Publishing in 2007. Argosy Publishing produced content for educational publishers. During the financial crisis of 2007-2008 Argosy switched from producing content for other companies to producing their own content. Later Argosy Publishing would go by Visible Body. Since then, the company has grown to make revenues in the $5 million range. [4]
Content and Platforms
[edit]Visible Body's apps are available for iOS, the Google Play store, Mac and PC. Human Anatomy Atlas and My Incredible Body are also available for the Windows Store.[6] In addition to their apps, Visible Body has a free learn site, which they released in 2015.[7]
Human Anatomy Atlas is available in 7 languages.[2]
Audience
[edit]Their apps are typically targeted toward medical students, professors, and healthcare professionals[8], with My Incredible Body being the exception, as it's targeted towards young children.
