Angelo Bianco
Angelo Bianco is an American Micro-Sprint driver, Italian in ethnicity, whom races at tracks in Delaware, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and New Jersey. Born May 23, 1996, He currently is a champion of the Airport Speedway and in 2010 had a record setting 13 wins. As a rookie in 2009, he was coached by 2 time champion Ralph Parks en route to a fourth place points finish and a class leading seven wins. Bianco then proceeded to race in 2010 and took home the first race of the season in dominant fashion. He would never relinquish the top spot in the points standings, leading for a track high 21 straight weeks. In the coming weeks and months he would take checkered flag after checkered flag and grab wins #2, #3, and #4 all in a row. This is the first of 3 times during the season that he would win back to back to back races. When he got win #5, on June 12 of 2010, he seemed invincible. When a rainout and the fourth of July break came in the season, Bianco made his first trip to the Clyde Martin (Lanco) Memorial Speedway in Pennsylvania. Finishing second in his heat, and starting inside of row 3, he was working towards the front when he was involved in a lap 7 wreck with the first and second place cars. He would proceed to finish 14th of the 24 cars that night. The next week back at airport, he had troubles behind the wheel. It appeared as if he just "didn't have it anymore." He would have a over a month long dry spell until July 24th came. After being sick with mono the whole week, and trying to deal with the tragedy of losing his great grandmother to cancer, Bianco had one goal and one goal only. Win. That night, he simultaneously picked his way through the field in both his heat race and his feature race. After nearly losing the lead, he narrowly dodged lap traffic and took home an emotional win for his team. They needed it, after arguments and problems amongst the team had lead to his only finish outside the top 3 all season the week earlier. He would win #7 with a near blown engine and by less then .1 of a second, and would grab win #8 with 3 laps to go in lapped traffic. The next week, Bianco had troubles and could only muster a second. August 8th however, would be one of his most exciting wins of the year. The whole season, Bianco had been chasing more then just a championship. He set out to beat his Champion Crew Chief's record of 10 wins in a season, set back in 2004. Win #9 would be no easy task though, as he started 6th in his feature due to a top-6 invert of qualifying. On lap 1, he quickly jumped to second and looked as if he was going to dominate. But as the laps winded down, the leading car began to vanish from his sights. A lucky break came on lap 16 of 25 when a caution came out. On the restart, he cruised past the lead car and would hold a slim lead to take win #9. The next week, he went to the track wanting to tie the record. He went into the night holding a hefty point lead, and 9 wins. After sheer dominance in his heat, he looked to repeat it in the feature, when a top-3 invert threw him off. Having to start 3rd, he worked his way to the front patiently, and took home the win by a "country mile." After a huge celebration, it was already time to start getting ready for the following week. Two in a row behind him, he set his determined eyes on win #11 and the record. After a heat race in which he went from 1st to 3rd in the final corner, it meant that another top 3 invert would give him the pole. Starting on the pole, he had a dominant performance the whole race and took win #11 like he owned the place. The celebration was relentless, with it being one of his biggest career wins. Win #12 was another domination..but what made it special was the fact that he had clinched the championship. This happening a few weeks later, on September 18th. And his final win of the year, came on the final night. The pumpkin race/ members memorial race meant the end to a terrific, championship season for the #86 team. Bianco got 3rd in his heat, and a top 6 invert left him 3rd for the feature. He took 2nd on the start, and played follow the leader until lap 12, when a caution for fuel on the track was thrown. When back under green, he took the lead and won the race easily. But, during the victory lane celebration, it was discovered that Bianco's fuel cell had been leaking. He was not penalized. He was ecstatic to end the season with yet another win, his 20th of his career.
