From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

{{Mathglot/sandbox/Templates/Template:Hidden translation}} will categorise tagged articles into Category:Wikipedia articles needing cleanup after translation.

Purpose

[edit]

When to use:

This template is used to identify articles which may contain translations with errors of fact. Articles which are the result of a rough or a machine translation, and which subsequently underwent significant cleanup so that the level of English is now similar to other, never-translated articles, may obscure the fact that factual errors introduced by the translation are still there. You may tag these articles with {{Hidden translation}}.

When not to use:

If the current version of the article is clearly a poor translation, consider using {{Rough translation}} or {{Cleanup translation}} instead.

Usage

[edit]

{{Hidden translation|language-name|version-number|section}}

Parameters

[edit]
1: (optional) name of language
2: (optional) version number of earlier translation
3: (optional) replaces the word "article"; e.g. use "section" for use in a section.
listed: (optional) = "yes" if the article has been listed at Wikipedia:Pages needing translation into English

Example

[edit]
{{Hidden translation|German|123456789|section}}

Another way to do it is with ordinals for the unnamed parameters:

{{Hidden translation|1=Russian|2=7654321|3=paragraph}}

If the second parameter is filled in as in the example above, the template will provide a hyperlink to the given version.

This template will categorize tagged articles into Category:Wikipedia articles needing cleanup after translation. It should not be substituted.
