Luiseth Emiliana Materán Bolaño (born 14 July 1996) is a Venezuelan actress, journalist, model and beauty pageant titleholder who was apointed Miss Universe Venezuela 2021. She represented the state of Miranda at the Miss Venezuela 2020 pageant[2] and will represent Venezuela at Miss Universe 2021.[3][4]
Life and career[edit]
Early life[edit]
Materán was born in Los Teques, Miranda. Before participating in the Miss Venezuela pageant she obtained a bachelor degree with honors in Social Comunications specializated in Publicity and Audiovisual Arts given by Andrés Bello Catholic University in Caracas. After that, she became in CCO of Red Social de Conocimiento CEOS.[5]By other side, Luiseth has encouraged in the world of acting. On January 2019 the recordings of a production began in which Materán hopes to debut on television with Intrigas tras cámaras, a telenovela written by Carmelo Castro based on an original text by Henry Galué and produced by Televen network.
Pageantry[edit]
Miss Globe Venezuela 2015[edit]
Materán began her career in the world of beauty pageants in regional competitions for the state of Miranda. In 2015, she participated in the Venezuelan beauty contest, Miss Globe Venezuela, wearing the band from his home state, Miranda. Later, on December 18, 2015, Materán would obtain her first beauty title as Miss Globe Venezuela 2015.[6]
Miss Venezuela 2020[edit]
After being selected once again to represent her home state, Miranda, this time at Miss Venezuela 2020, Materán competed with other 21 candidates for the disputed crown, becoming one of the great favorites of said edition,[7][8][9] resulting in the classification within the group of finalists (Top 5), on September 24, 2020.[10]
Miss Universe Venezuela 2021[edit]
On Friday, July 2, 2021, in a special event broadcast during the morning magazine, Portada's, Luiseth Materán, Miss Miranda and Top 5 of Miss Venezuela 2020, was designated and titled Miss Venezuela Universe 2021 by the Miss Venezuela Organization.[11][12][13][14]
After 30 years of being selected Jackeline Rodríguez to represent her country in Miss Universe 1991, Materán becomes the third Venezuelan to be designated to attend the international contest. Peculiarly, Rodríguez, initially, would also be the one who carried the Miranda state band in Miss Venezuela 1991, the same entity that Materán represented in 2020. The first Venezuelan designation for this event was in 1960 with Mary Quiróz Delgado who was Miss Yaracuy 1957.
Antoher peculiary case happend in 1962, when Miss Venezuela 1962, Olga Antonetti, couldn't participate in Miss Universe 1962 because she was underage. For this reason, was decide to make a switch: the 2nd Runner-Up, Virgina Bailey, would attend the Miss Universe compettion and Antonetti would do the same at Miss International 1962 where she placed as Top 15. Unfortunately, Antonetti will die in 1968 in the Pan Am Flight 217, becoming in the first ever Miss Venezuela to pass away.
Miss Universe 2021[edit]
Materán will represent Venezuela at the Miss Universe 2021 beauty contest.
