During his time as a video game developer, he has made a wide-range of games and participated in writing the Five Nights At Freddy's Trilogy and the Fazbear Frights series [7]. Resulting in a cult following and the popularity achieved by the games and novels.

History

[edit]

Scott Cawthon has been making and developing games in the early 1990s, his first game he made was called Doofas published on 1994 and even though most of his games were not as popular, he continued to publish them. The idea and concept from Five Nights At Freddy's came from his family-friendly game Chipper & Sons Lumber Co. because Jim Sterling called it "terrifying" and unable to appeal to children.[8] Eventually, Scott Cawthon used this feedback to intentionally make it scarier. The series is centred on various fast-food chains inducing Chuck E Cheese's due to it's animal mascot. He uses the idea of using real-life creatures and turning them into scary and life-size animatronics.

Five Nights At Freddy's Novel Trilogy

[edit]

The first book The Silver Eyes published on 17 December 2015 [9], takes place in Hurricane, Utah where Charlie reunites with her friends, Jessica, Carlton, John, Lamar and Marla. They had decided to come back to see the old abandoned Freddy's restaurant where their friend, Michael, died. Investigating inside, they had found the animal mascots - Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, Foxy and Chica whom were built by Charlie's father - had been left behind. They soon figure out that the place has more secrets than answers.

The second book The Twisted Ones published on 27 June 2017 [10], takes place a year later. Charlie, the University of St. George student is contacted by Clay Burke, an officer and Carlton's farther. There were reports of killings and mysterious animatronics digging themselves in the ground and when Charlie is called to the scene where the first murdered victim is, Clay noted that the lady looked liked her. Charlie goes back childhood house which had been destroyed because of a storm, all she wants is answers but was nothing left from her dead father. In the backgarden she finds metal chunks and finds the animatronic Foxy. As she leaves with unanswered questions. she helps Clay with his work. Charlie forms a team with Jessica and John to track down the culprit resulting into Charlie's death at the end of the book.

The third book The Fourth Closet punished on 26 June 2018 [11], John and Jessica drive to an abandoned mining town named Silver Reef to look for Aunt Jen. After finding and meeting Jen, they discovered that Charlie was trapped in a box. John took Charlie to his house to rest and hide. Eventually, as Charlie recovered and became healthier, they ventured back to Aunt Jen's house. It is revealed to Charlie by Circus Baby another animatronic from the game Sister Location. This reveals that Charlie isn't human, rather she was the third of four planned robots made by her father Henry to mimic her growing up.

Five Nights At Freddy's Game Series

[edit]

In the games, you are a security guard is is asked watch over the different places in each game except in the Five Nights At Freddy's 4. The original four animatronics were Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie the Bunny, Chica the Chicken and Foxy the Pirate Fox. There was another one named Golden Freddy who is a discontinued animatronic, but in the game the animatronic appears a few times around the pizzeria. All animatronics can move because due to the endoskeleton and mechanical wirings. In most animatronics, the urge to kill is common since William Afton, the antagonist in all the games and takes over the body of Spring Trap Bonnie, had killed children during his time as a worker at the pizzeria. The children's bodies were stuffed in each animatronic and their souls possess them and take their revenge of their deaths.

That is why the games are survival horror genre as you try to survive five nights in the places you have been asked to guard.

Planned Film

[edit]

The Five Nights At Freddy's franchise was about to get a film adaptation, but it is still in development since 2015. Warner Bros. Pictures announced on April 2015 they acquired the rights to adapt the game into a film. The feature adaptation was said to be produced by Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment as well as Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg of KatzSmith Productions.[12].

On January 31st 2017, Scott Cawthon posted on a Steam post in regard to the movie. He said that he wanted to be more involved in the movie from the start, so the movie is "back to square one." He further on says that, "the FNAF movie was met with several delays and roadblocks". Scott Cawthon still wants to make this movie for his fanbase.[13]
