Geography

The château is located in the territoru of the municipality of Sandillon (Loiret), south-west of the town, in the Loire Valley at around 100 meters above sea level.

The château is accessible from the departmental road 14.

The Porte estate, which notably contains the château and the chapel, extends over the territory of the municipalities of Sandillon and Saint-Cyr-en-Val [1].

History

The building was built from 1776 by Claude de Loynes d'Autroche[2].

The chapel was completed in 1785[2].

The Poncins Bernard Earl owns the château at the end of XIXe century[3].

The château is registered in the inventory of historic monuments since June 10  , 1992 then classified since October 20  , 1995[2].

In 2005 , the French businessman Claude Bébéar bought the La Porte estate[4].

The French painter and designer Charles Pensée produced a series of watercolors representing the La Porte estate in the 1850s and 1860s[5].
