Safety circuit rider is an officer usually assigned by a state agency such as a Department of Transportation (DOT) for visiting towns of smaller scale and almost any rural area to evaluate the safety standards on roads and report recommendations to local agencies. It can also refer to a program where a safety circuit rider travels to coordinate workshops or to offer presentations on a particular traffic safety-related issue.
