[edit]Lew was born march 1947 in sutton - st helens, As a teenager he became fascinated with boxing and soon become a very good amature being trained by Herbie Golding and George Gilbody snr, lew once fought ex-british champion billy aird but lew was disqualified for head-butting the ref....

Wild Thing vs Prettboy
[edit]When lew moved to london to work as a doorman he heard a radio interview with the then gov`nor of the unlicensed fighting world roy "prettyboy" shaw, shaw challanged anyone in england to fight him, lew from that momment knew he wanted to take th title of the gov`ner from shaw and for the next 5 years challanged roy but lews reputation for not backing down from a fight and never loseing be it one on one or against numerous opponents scared shaws handlers who never made the fight happen until 1981 where lew had to raise a stake of £10,000 for the fight they only gave lew a few weeks to train, on the night of the fight lew had shaw in the courner and was beating him when after a minute and a half of the third round the ref stopped the fight early in favour of shaw saying lew`s eye was so badly cut his eyeball was nearly hanging out of its socket, on the night of the fight there were at least 3 cameramen filmimg the contest yet not one copy has been found to date (nearly all of roys fights were filmed)...
Later Life
[edit]In 2007 lew released his book Wild Thing: The True Story of Britain's Rightful Guv'nor written by lew and the best selling author bernard o`mahoney it was published by mainstream publishing...
Lew now lives in cambridgshire where he is a boxing and personal trainer.
