Zion Lutheran Church (Buffalo, Minnesota) is a congregation of the Minneapolis Area Synod[1] of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), located in Buffalo, Minnesota
History
[edit]The first meeting of the congregation was held on November 7, 1866[1] by a group of Swedish immigrants at the home of Sven Erickson. They named their congregation Carlslund Evangelical Lutheran Church, and were led by Pastor John S. Nelson of Watertown. That first congregation was composed of 58 members, 27 adults and 31 children. [2]
The Swedesburg or Marysville Church was also organized by Pastor Nelson in 1873. One pastor served both churches until 1950 when the Marysville Church joined in with Zion. [2]
The current church building on Mary Lake was constructed in 1989 and expanded in 2004.[2]
Worship
[edit]Regular worship services include a Traditional service at 8:30am on Sundays, Family Worship at 9:45am on Sundays, and Blended-Contemporary Worship at 10:30 on Sundays [3]. Services are held at the historic [4] Marysville church at 7:00pm on Mondays in June, July, and August.
