Nicholas Schafer Nicholas "Shaffer" Schafer (DOB: 7th February 1992) is an Australian swimmer. Shaffer competes primarily in Breastroke events, but also races Freestyle Relays and Individual Medleys at Short Course meets.
Shaffer is Australia's first ever Gold medal winner at the Youth Olympics. He did this in the 100m Breastroke and in doing so, set a new Australian 18 years age record.
Shaffer enjoys playing indoor hockey with his swimming club, Brisbane's River City Rapids, as well as competing in Surf Life Saving events.
Shaffer has been referred to in print as "beginning a new chapter in Australian sport".
Shaffer has lost to his girlfriend at pitch'n'putt once.
