Buttered is
A term that is gaining prominence in Sydney and is a term related to the sale and or selling of high ticket items. The term was first popularized by Sir Richard H W Austin and has such found colloquial usage.
The term "Buttered" refers to a sales strategy akin to resting a piece of butter on a customers chest and watching it slowly slide down into their pants, and possibly down their leg if it is a good buttering. The customer leaves covered in a thin film of butter and the sale is ultra smooth.
Whilst buttering is an old strategy the secret to buttering is that a customer must feel elated by the experience. Sir Richard H W Austin quoted "you don't buy a product, you buy a show".
Buttering is an advanced sales skill and most salespeople can not butter.
