Pavel Fileviez Perez is a theoretical physicist at the Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics (MPIK) which has published more than 50 articles in particle physics and cosmology. He received his Ph.D. at the Max Planck Institute for Physics in 2003, under the supervision of Goran Senjanović and Manuel Drees. Before joining the MPIK in 2012, he worked as a James Arthur Fellow at the CCPP in New York University and as a Dirac Fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His major research interests are unification of elementary particle forces, baryon and lepton number violation and supersymmetry.
P. Fileviez Perez is best known for grand unified theories and proton decay studies together with Pran Nath in 2006.[1] Together with Mark B. Wise from Caltech he has proposed new gauge theories [2] in order to explain the (non)conservation of the baryon and lepton numbers in the universe. In the context of supersymmetric theories he has proposed a new mechanism to understand the violation of R-parity[3]
which has profound implications for cosmology and particle physics.
