Bill Reichert has become well known as a prolific speaker and panelist at venture capital events in Silicon Valley and around the world.  He is currently a General Partner at Pegasus Tech Ventures, a global venture capital firm with headquarters in Silicon Valley and offices around the world.

He is a General Partner at Pegasus Tech Ventures, a $2.0 billion as of June 30, 2022 global venture capital firm based in Silicon Valley that focuses on making strategic investments for corporate limited partners.  Prior to Pegasus, Bill was the co-founder and Managing Director of Garage Technology Ventures, along with Guy Kawasaki.  Garage Technology Ventures was acquired by Pegasus in March 2021.  Bill has also been a Lecturer at the Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology in the School of Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, where he has taught “Venture Finance for Entrepreneurs and Investors” to graduate students, undergraduates, and international students.

Early life

Bill Reichert was born in Chicago USA, in 1958. and he graduated from Stanford University MBA, Thorsen Scholarship, Public Management Program (1979 - 1981) and Harvard University (1972-1976) BA, History and Science, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa.

Carrer

Bill has invested in companies ranging from software to hardware to materials science to life science, including companies in AI (Vicarious, Tamr), cybersecurity (WhiteHat Security, Tripwire), and quantum computing (QC Ware, Rigetti). He has served on several boards of directors.   

Bill brings his extensive experience as a serial entrepreneur and operating executive to his work with portfolio companies.  Prior to co-founding Garage in early 1998, Bill was co-founder of Academic Systems, a software company funded by Kleiner Perkins, Accel Partners and Microsoft.  Academic Systems became the leading developer of network-based multimedia instructional materials for colleges and universities in the U.S.  In 1998, it merged with Lightspan, subsequently went public, and was then acquired by Plato Learning.  Prior to Academic Systems, Bill was a cofounder or senior executive at several early stage, venture-backed technology companies, including The Learning Company, which was the leading developer of educational software in the U.S. before its acquisition in 1994, and Infa Technologies, a pen-based computer company that developed many of the concepts underlying the Newton, Palm, and iPhone.  Bill also co-founded Trademark Software, which was subsequently acquired by Dow Jones, while in graduate school at Stanford.
