Foot Locker Elite Classic - High Stakes Hoops is a five-day basketball event in Australia. During the event, which takes place at The Dome in Adelaide, eight teams compete for a prize pool of $250,000. The teams are the Coasters, Cyclones, Fleet, Monarchs, Pythons, Rays, Reef, Rush. Team rights owners include notable basketball personalities, such as Brett Maher and Lanard Copeland.
Games are televised and broadcast live on Network Ten's ONE, putting basketball back on free-to-air tv.
There are some innovative rule changes that make this a unique product in Australian basketball, including the 'Game Breaker' and the idea of having a game within a game (e.g. each quarter is scored separately, so you could lose the game but win a quarter). Games will also be 48 minutes long and involve jump balls instead of possession arrows.
The naming rights sponsor of the 2010 event is Foot Locker. Other partners and sponsors include Nike, Spalding, Triple M and One HD.
The holding company of the Foot Locker Elite Classic - High Stakes Hoops is Elite Classic Basketball (ECB).
