Codi Kaye
Codi Kaye Pollock (born 8 February 1997), known by her stage name Codi Kaye, is an Australian singer-songwriter. Born in Coffs Harbour[1] and raised in Newcastle[2], NSW[3], she played drums in her primary school band. Codi began singing and learning guitar when she was given a Maton[4] for her 13th birthday. It was from then that she began experimenting with her music and writing lyrics.
Star Struck Schools Spectacular is a regional schools musical spectacular performed annually. Codi started out, like many other students interested in performing, as one of the many young dancers in Star Struck Schools Spectacular when 8 years old in Year 3. When she was 10 years old Codi made it into the large Star Struck Schools Spectacular choir when in Year 5. When 15 and in year 10 Codi auditioned with an original song for a singing spot in a small group. Star Struck Schools Spectacular executives decided the song "Show Your Love" fitted a section of the show and so Codi was asked to sing Show Your Love solo, which she did in front of the 5,000 audience for the 3 shows in 2012. Codi also performed with other singers in Star Struck Schools Spectacular in 2013 in two small group performances.
Youth Rock 2014 is a NSW[5] Secondary Schools rock band competition. Codi Kaye (as singer/songwriter/guitarist), Connor (rhythm guitar), Jarrod (bass guitar) and Liam (drums) entered Youth Rock 2014 representing Warners Bay High School. The band was called Codi Kaye and the Unappreciated and they came 3rd in this statewide competition. Each band in the competition has to perform a set of 4 original songs in each appearance. Codi Kaye also won the Silverchair[6] Best Original Song songwriter's award for two songs "Humanity" and "You're Not Innocent" judged by music industry executives.
After creating her YouTube presence from 2013 when she uploaded her first song called "You're Not Innocent" Codi Kaye entered singing competitions and managed to win studio time to record 3 songs beginning with her release on 25 July 2014 of "You're Not Innocent" recorded at Track Down studios - a part of Fox studios in Sydney[7]. Codi Kaye next released her second single called "My Conscience" on 19 August 2015 which was recorded at Tommirock studios in Newcastle[8]. Codi Kaye then released her debut self-titled EP on 9 October 2015 adding a third song "Butterfly" to her previously released singles. "Butterfly" was recorded at Captain Fatt studios in Newcastle[9].
