ZombieMod is a popular Server-Side Plugin written in C++ (using MetaMod Source API) for Valve Corporations's multiplayer game Counter-Strike: Source introducing new "zombie infection" styled gameplay.

Overview[edit]

The usual "Terrorist" versus "Anti-Terrorist" Gameplay found in Counter-Strike: Source is changed; After a short, random amount of time a random player is choosen to be the zombie and switched to the Terrorist team whilst the remaining players are switched to the Anti-Terrorist team (humans). The goal of the game is to either turn all humans ino zombies by attacking them with your knife as zombie or to elimate all zombies before they are able to infect all humans. Further changes to the default gameplay are made by restricting the zombies to the knife as their only usable weapon, as well as changing their speed, health and adding knockback.[2]

Popularity[edit]

The reception from the community is high. In 2007 there were 375 servers running the plugin, above 500 maps and 50 models created by 3rd party authors.[3] As of October 2010 the amount of maps created by 3rd party has increased to above 1600.[4]

The mod has reached a level of popularity that alternatives to the original plugin have been created. A noteable one is Zombie: Reloaded[5], a SourceMod Plugin.
