Personal Information[edit]

Oritsé Jolomi Williams (born 27 November 1986 in London, England) is a famous UK singer, Pop idol and sex symbol. He is the mastermind and founding member of popular boyband JLS (Jack the Lad Swing) who were runners up to Alexandra Burke in the fifth series of the X-Factor. When JLS first auditioned for the x factor , Simon Cowell pointed Oritsé out as having the best vocal ability out of the 4.

Early Life[edit]

Oritsé attended Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School [1] and went onto study at London Met University Oritsé also spent some time in Nigeria before returning back to England in 2006. Whilst in Nigeria Oritsé was involved in a community care and youth development.

Oritsé's motive to becoming a singer was to raise money and fund Multiple Sclerosis research to help people diagnosed with MS find a cure. When Oritsé moved back to England he went to University and had a job in the music industry to gain some experience which in turn would lead him to where he is today. [2]

Music Career[edit]

Oritsé Williams has been competing in various talent contests since he was 14. Oritsé had his first big break when he worked for free at a P.Diddy inspired internship at Deal Real Records. Oritsé was spotted by Trevor Nelson, a well known presentor and DJ, and asked him to perform his own song on MTV's "The Lick" TV show [3].

Before putting JLS together, Oritsé was scouted by Sony to join a developing band named UFO, but soon left after differences in the group which led him to put together his own band; JLS. Oritsé formed the band in 2007, he took the selection procedure very seriously making sure he had the perfect 4 for the band, ‘I was at London Metropolitan University, running around like a mad kid. I was trying to look for band members, going down to central London advertising, putting my posters on top of other people's posters. I found the boys through a combination of phone calls and MySpace. I just knew when the combination was right.[4]. Once formed the boys rehursed as much as they could, played regular gigs and even won Best Unsigned Act 2007 at the Urban Music Awards. [5]

Oritsé's musical influences include Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner, Sisqo, Usher, Ne-yo, Justin Timberlake, Boyz 2 men, The Temptations. Oritsé also met his hero Stevie Wonder in Heathrow airport lounge this year. [6]

JLS are always increasing their fan base, not only have they won the hearts of UK fans but fans all over the world. [7]

Earlier this year it was Oritsé's turn for a forfeit whilst perfoming. "JLS band member Oritsé got his kit off for fans at a recent gig as part of a forfeit" [8]. After fans had posted suggestions on Facebook, Oritsé's forfeit was to either dress up as a girl or stand on stage in his underpants. Oritsé gave all of the fans what they wanted by stripping to reveal a pair of Union Jack boxer shorts!

Personal Life[edit]

Oritsé has an African name which means "Universally Blessed" and is born of West Indian origin parents. Oritsé is very close to his mum and has been looking after from the age of 14 when she was diagnosed with MS (Multiple Sclerosis). In 2010 Oritsé won an award for M.S. Inspiration Of The Year for all the work and contributions he’s made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society [9]. Oritsé continues to raise money and help the M.S Society as much as possible.

It has been said by his fellow band members that Oritsé Williams will be the next Simon Cowell. Voted by the JLS forum to be an X Factor judge. [10]

There has been much speculation whether Oritsé has had a relationship with fellow X-Factor contestant Ruth Lorenzo on meeting in the show in 2008.
