Paddy Melon Carving is currently not considered an established sport or hobby.A great deal of research has gone into the science of Paddymelons, for example Lee SW Kim ZH (2003). with its simplistic environmental roots, it is proposed to enter popular pastimes in the next century. Already, watermelon carving and rockmelon carving have established events and competitions around the globe. Paddy melon carving is similar to these, except for these imported weeds,(to australia)are generally poisonous to humans and wildlife, and have environmental, aesthetic value. Paddy Melon Carving originated from central australia in the 1930s.Local stories say that a man was camping in Palm valley, when a river crossing the only exit path was flooded and stranded him there for 5 days. in his spare time, he found some paddy melons. using his handy butter knife, he carved a 'snowman' with three paddy melons. this has been replicated in more recent works. Apparently, when he returned the people at the local town were amazed of his artwork. ...
