The Town Pants are a Canadian celtic rock band from Vancouver[1] formed from the remnants of The Van Demons by brothers Dave[2] and Duane Keogh.[3] The band was named for an Irish racehorse that the Keogh brothers bet on one time. Their parents were Irish and Acadian, and they grew up around music and kitchen parties. Their father, Lorne Keogh, an Ottawa country music musician, has released albums such as Sing Me Back Home.[4]
The band's live debut album, Liverdance,[5] was recorded at Vancouver's Blarney Stone pub in 1997.
Aaron Chapman,[6] a founding member of the Celtic punk band The Real McKenzies, joined shortly after the recording of Liverdance. Piston Baroque[7] which was produced by Hugh McMillan of Spirit of the West was released in 2001 and incorporated original pieces as well as traditional Irish tunes. Their third CD, Weight of Words,[8] was released in 2006, it is the band's only full studio album to date. Their fourth album, Coming Home,[9] was released in celebration of the band's 10th anniversary. The CD was once again recorded live at The Blarney Stone on May 27, 2007.
The band has changed slightly in more recent years, with Kyle Taylor[10] taking up Virginia Schwartz's place on the fiddle and Mo Sherwood[11] picking up the percussion/contraption kit. The band also included until recently Dino DiNicolo[12] on bass guitar. Ivanka Watkin has now taken up place on the fiddle for most of the band's big shows and extensive tours, with Taylor still filling in for some local Vancouver shows.
The Town Pants have toured extensively throughout Canada, the United States and in Europe. Individually, the band members have also appeared on recordings by Headview, The Be Good Tanyas, Bocephus King, Fiddlehaus, Pat Chessell, Showbusiness Giants, The Dreadnoughts and Marnie Grey.

Liverdance (A Savage Pants Production, 1997)[edit]
The Town Pants' debut album, Liverdance was recorded live at Vancouver's Blarney Stone Pub in 1997. The CD features up tempo covers of favorite traditional Irish pub tunes. The Keogh brothers (vocals, banjo, and guitar) are joined by guests Johnny Leroux (guitar, vocals) Michael Cronin (tin Whistle, bodhran, vocals), and Mary Brunner (fiddle). [13]
